I feel home-sick for a Christmas I haven't had with my family for 12 years.
I was watching some Buffalo program channel, and they were showing how Christmas is celebrated in different countries. My favourite was definitely in.. I'm going to say Switzerland, but it may have been Belgium.. anyways, THERE, each house is assigned a day of Christmas and the house is responsible for decorating their window according to the day. For Example, if you were given 13, you would decorate your window with some type of scene, like the wise men following a star. Also, after a nice dinner and opening gifts, the family would gather around and listen to the grandfather read the family bible.
I wish we could do that at my house... but.. you know.
And then I go to the store and realize this country, or at least Toronto, is lucky if ANYONE does anything like that.
The "Christmas" we have here isn't even called that, it's labeled as XMAS and has a price tag .
I'm sorry, but if you want to take Christ out of "Christ's Mass".. you should take out the "mass" part too and just call it "this time we get off work and school that has no meaning except to make you feel obligated to buy things from stores that overcharge you"
